This situation seems extremely awkward to me. It continues to amaze me how people are expected to implement such flash handler on the server side if there is no documentation regarding this subject.

One question about your implementation: does it have to be JSON, or is plain text like "1" or "OK" or "DONE" fine as well?

I tried sending strings other than "DONE", this did not seem to work properly except for those you said: "1" and "OK". Weird.

When I end a flash upload with the string "DONE", it correctly interprets this as the upload being successful, the client then fires the upload complete event. However, an other string or null byte does not seem to do anything on the client.

Has this been documented by Adobe? What is the proper response of a server to a file upload?
